Hotel Review in Khon Kaen: Piman Garden Boutique Hotel

The Piman Garden Boutique Hotel is by far the best choice for accommodations in Khon Kaen. While we usually stay at a mediocre budget-friendly hotel when visiting KK, this time we opted for something that was a little more money and lot more luxurious! This might have been the first time on a trip that we preferred to stay in the hotel rather than go explore the city. Although, that could possibly be because of the temperatures nearing 100 degrees F!

There were a number of things that stood out to us almost immediately as we settled into our balcony room the second floor. As soon as we arrived, we noticed the large parking garage attached to the hotel. Covered parking – a rarity among the hotels and guest houses we are used to! We were greeted by security and a delightful gentleman that directed us to the lobby to check-in and helped carry our bags (aka. top box) to our room. That was a first for us in Thailand! As we entered the lobby, every one of the hotel staff stopped what they were doing and greeted us with a smile, true Thailand “Land of Smiles” style. The landscaping and gardens were immaculate, complete with beautiful colors of flowers in bloom. Although the hotel is located in the city center, its set back from the road and you are shielded from the noises of the bustling street traffic. In one word? Serene.

The room itself even surprised us, equipped with a large LCD TV, a kitchenette with a full size refrigerator loaded with drinks and snacks, a nice size closet to hang our clothes, as well as a safe to lock up our prized possessions. The best part? The bath tub! The first one we’ve seen since we left the US! We were also shocked to find full size bottles of quality shampoo, conditioner and body wash. Not the typical cheap supplies you most often find that leave your hair feeling like hay.

Although we were in town to visit friends and attend an event, we spent the majority of our time on the balcony overlooking the gardens. Fortunately, the balcony was shielded by trees so being outside was not unbearable even in the extreme heat. The internet was stellar, allowing us to stay caught up on work.

The breakfast buffet is far superior to your typical Thai breakfast of toast and jam. There is an array of hot breakfast items (eggs, meats, noodles and rice), as well as cereal with milk and bread rolls. Additionally, they have omelettes made to order with a large selection of ingredients. They even have freshly brewed coffee – not the instant 3 in 1 kind!

The hotel is walking distance to a number of restaurants and local eateries, as well as some of Khon Kaen’s night markets. We had the privilege of dining at the spectacular restaurant located just in front the hotel. The chef comes from Bangkok and his ancient Thai food is phenomenal. We were introduced to some new foods that we hadn’t heard of, such as a minced work wrapped in an egg net and the unique but tasty dessert pictured below. We highly recommend grabbing a bite there!

In speaking with the staff, we learned that the Piman Garden Boutique Hotel is becoming an increasingly popular choice for weddings, conferences and other events among their lush gardens and exceptional event facilities. We can see why as this hotel is oozing with character and charm.

If you are considering a visit to Khon Kaen, do yourself a favor and stay at the Piman Garden Boutique Hotel! Prices range from 850 – 1650 THB, depending on room type. Hi Charlie ,
I’m so glad you have discovered the piman garden hotel! I have stayed there at least 4 times on every occasion that I’ve been to khon kaen and it is by far the best value and most beautiful place hotel in the city. I’ve always recommended the piman to everyone who visits khon kaen and never once had negative feedback! This is a hidden gem in the heart of the city and so serene and relaxing, I love sitting in the landscaped garden every morning after breakfast upstairs in the fabulous open air hotel restaurant , the breakfast selection is amazing in terms of what other hotels have to offer! And finally the staff….. As you quite rightly say in your report…. Always a smile for everyone!
Just finish with one tip for anyone thinking of staying at this amazing hotel…. Ask for a ground level room because to awaken every morning and have direct access to the beautiful garden right outside when you open your door is paradise!
Thanks again for bring back so many beautiful memories on my visits to thr piman hotel and khon kaen,
Now after reading and looking at your video report of your stay I have itchy feet again to fly back to khon kaen! Lol
Take care in your travels and keep up your great blogs on your travels,
Paul.
