ReplyThank you, although I don’t think the pictures do it justice!!
ReplyChiang Mai is full of quaint cafes, one thing that we find so endearing about this city. But sometimes you find one that is so charming it stands out among the rest and might even be worth writing about. We found one of those today. We woke up feeling a little bummed after hearing some disappointing news and then I came across an article from Chiang Mai CityNews about a little cafe, Into the Woods. I immediately fell in love with it just looking at the pictures and knew this would be just the place to cheer me up.
Anyone that knows me knows that I am still a kid at heart. I love fairytales, Disney movies and strongly wish I could go back to the days when I (spoiler alert!!) believed in Santa Claus. Walking in the cafe is like walking into a Grimm’ fairytale. A beautiful mural covers one entire wall with scenes from Hansel and Gretel and Red Riding Hood so colorful it brightens the entire shop. In the corner you will find a bookcase stocked full of classic children’s books and comfy couches for your reading pleasure. Every detail of the cafe depicts charm and evokes nostalgia.
The menu is not very extensive, but all of the options were calling our name. With a little mix of Thai and Western food, you are sure to have trouble deciding what to order, much like we did. Charlie ended up going with the bacon egg chiffon. I’m not sure if eggs ever qualify as “pretty”, but in this case they do. I did get a (very) small bite and it was delicious. Really cheesy. I miss cheese…
I tried their signature dish, Into the Woods pork, which came with a side of sesame sauce (not pictured) and boiled green veggies. YUM! We almost ordered another round, but I wanted to save room for dessert…
We had the same problem when it came to ordering dessert – how do we ever decide? After much debate…we did, and we chose the homemade choco banana roll cake. It was DIVINE.
We washed all of this down with a peach iced tea and although it was great, we definitely want to try one of the famous lattes next time. And there will be a next time…

For 5 years, we lived primarily in Thailand and built our online business and location independent lifestyle while we traveled to over 30 countries. We’ve had house sitting gigs on 3 different continents and we’ve even appeared on HGTV’s House Hunters International.
